About the class

If you're one of those people who've believe that "you're not creative, I can't even draw a stick figure," this ceramics class is for you. Of the 100-plus students from our community, who have taken this class so far, everyone has made something wonderful and they have made new friends and connections along the way.

In a little under 2 hours, you’ll learn the basic pinch technique which is a perfect introduction to ceramics. Using just your hands, you’ll make 3 ceramic planters that you will cherish for a lifetime. No tools are necessary! I provide clay, tools, instruction, and kiln/glaze firing. Once your pieces dry, I'll glaze and fire them. You'll then pick them up and they'll come alive when you fill them with soil and plant your favorite succulent or cactus.

Come have fun with friends or come alone and make new friends. We’re spreading the ceramic love.

The ultimate goal with these backyard classes is to see if our town will support a community studio in downtown Cedar City. If there is enough interest, we'll move to a larger commercial space where we’ll take a deeper dive into all aspects of ceramics. We’ll teach wheel throwing, sculpture, and hand building, and have ceramic studio memberships so that you can work at your own pace.

By taking this class, you'll be the first student to take longer-term classes in our new space.

Note: The class location will be sent upon enrollment.
